Aging in Worcester Conference

January 2012 

You are invited to participate in the 13th Annual Aging in Worcester Conference to be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel located at 101st Street, Ocean City, Maryland.
 
The goal of the conference is to provide learning experiences in senior well being for professionals in Worcester County and the surrounding areas. The conference will also provide knowledge to community providers, caseworkers, nurses and other professionals in the areas of physical health, behavioral health and social work. "The Eastern Shore AHEC is a sponsor authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners and participants will be awarded a certificate for 5.5 hrs of Category I upon completion of the program." " Nursing CEUS are pending, but check back soon for more details." CEU certificates will not be available until the conclusion of the conference.
 
The cost for individual registration is $50 and includes a full day of speakers and break-out sessions as well as a continental breakfast and buffet lunch.  Registration will be limited to 200 participants. Once registration has been completed, we will be unable to refund.

Parking Information:  Free parking is available on site at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel for attendees. There will be additional parking available across the street. Keynote Speaker - Dr. Allan Anderson

Dr. Allan Anderson is currently the President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, having been active in this association over a number of years previously serving in the capacity of committee chair, board member and secretary/treasurer. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry. He is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry.

Currently he is the Medical Director of the Samuel and Alexia Bratton Memory Clinic in Easton, Maryland. In addition to the evaluation and treatment of outpatients with memory disturbance and dementia he also coordinates the care of more severe dementia patients in a secure dementia assisted living facility. At the memory clinic he has been active in clinical trials for dementia patients including trials of novel pharmacologic treatments and a newly added trial to evaluate a potential biomarker for Alzheimer's disease.

Dr. Anderson has presented locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally on topics germane to geriatric psychiatry.
