The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.
We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Mental Health Professional Counselor
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide individual, group and family counseling and coordinate therapies, services and referrals through the mental health school based program in order to improve the functioning of the individual served. This position may require weekend and/or evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Office Secretary II
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide secretarial support for the Community Health Reproductive Health program of the Worcester County Health Department. This position will organize and file both electronic and paper documents, schedules, and correspondence; compile and summarize data into concise form; bill for services; prepare technical and confidential reports; and take and type meeting minutes. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide direct services to clients of the Behavioral Health Program as part of a dynamic team, at a Joint Commission accredited organization, working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents and adults in a work environment that offers flexibility and opportunities for innovative practice in a multidisciplinary setting. Direct client services include the evaluation, assessment, treatment and diagnosis of individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, conducting individual, group and family counseling, making determinations on appropriate community referrals, prescribing and monitoring of medications, case coordination with other providers, maintaining appropriate clinical records in accordance with program policies and regulatory standards, treatment planning/implementation, crisis intervention and management when necessary. This position requires some weekend and/or evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Public Affairs Specialist
The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to serve as a member of the Public Affairs staff for the Worcester County Health Department and assist in preparing and submitting internal and external communications. This position will include development of news releases, print media, social media, and health communications campaigns. This position will also be responsible for emergency preparedness and risk communications. In addition, this position will require occasional weekend and/or evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Contractual Coordinator Special Programs I, HS
The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to reduce recidivism rates at the detention center, local hospital, impatient facilities and other similar higher levels of care with a population focus on individuals and/or households with substance use disorders and or mental health disorders. This position will work with local law enforcement, emergency department staff, detention center staff and other community partner staff regularly. The case manager will engage individuals/households with a person-centered approach with the goal of engaging the individuals in behavioral health treatment, resource assistance, recovery services, and health insurance as appropriate. This position will seek to reduce barriers for clientele by identifying obstacles and creating a vision for change. This position does include home visiting, community based services and may require some evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Social Worker I, Health Services is a professional clinical social work at the intermediate level providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health setting. The work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.
