The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

The main purpose of this position is to provide secretarial support for the Community Health Adult Services program of the Worcester County Health Department. This position will organize and file both electronic and paper documents, schedules and correspondence; compile and summarize data into concise form. This position will assist clients with Maryland Access Point intake services; program reporting; preparation of technical and confidential reports; and take and type meeting minutes. Applicant must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

An Alcohol and Drug (A/D) Associate Counselor is the full performance level of work, at the certified Bachelor’s Degree level, counseling clients with substance use disorders by using intervention, treatment and rehabilitation. The main purpose of this position is to provide individual and group substance abuse counseling services to Behavioral Health clients. This position also performs in depth substance abuse evaluations, assessments, screenings, treatment planning and appropriate referrals to outside agencies.

The main purpose of this position is to provide direct services to clients of the Behavioral Health Program as part of a dynamic team, at a Joint Commission accredited organization. This position will work with diverse populations, including children, adolescents and adults in a work environment that offers flexibility and opportunities for innovative practice in a multi-disciplinary setting. This position is responsible for evaluating, assessing, treating and diagnosing individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment. This position will also conduct individual, group and family counseling, making determinations on appropriate community referrals, prescribing and monitoring medications, case coordination with other providers, maintaining appropriate clinical records in accordance with program policies and regulatory standards, treatment planning/implementation, crisis intervention and management when necessary. Must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

The scope of practice includes: evaluating, assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, including the prescription and monitoring of medications; crisis intervention; and the planning and implementation of treatment.
